All About the Mindset with E.B.
What’s good? Does your mind ever play tricks on you? Your thoughts can work for you or against, but the good news is you get a choice. The even better news is when you’re young it tends to adapt quick to all sorts of things. You’re a movie that’s barely started, a notebook with blank pages to fill, a song that hasn’t hit the chorus yet. You have your whole life ahead of you, so they say. When you learn to create new thoughts, those thoughts lead to new actions and those actions lead to new results. Let’s have some fun and make the best out of this week.
-
BibleFeed with Caleb Louden
The Bible is the most important book ever made. Yet, for many people, reading and understanding it can be challenging. BibleFeed will be a fun exploration of what the Bible is and how to read it well. Improve your content consumption, add the Bible to your daily feed, and be transformed forever.
-
Dance with Pascal Deller and Captain Ashley Mumford
There’s nothing more powerful than when storytelling meets artistic expression. In this dance class, we will utilize a variety of choreographic styles - such as Contemporary and Hip-Hop dance - to tell stories that will challenge both the performer and audience. Whether you’re a tiktok dancer or an experienced performer ready for the World of Dance stage, this class is for YOU!
-
Cultivating Culture of Personal Worship with Aaron McClain
In this elective, the focus isn’t solely on worship (as in music). The main goal of the elective will be to introduce into our lives practices and spiritual skills that lead us into deeper communion with Jesus. On this journey of discovery, the goal is to find Jesus deeper and in turn find out more about ourselves. The more we look at Jesus, the more we know who He created us to be.
-
Visual Arts with Major Jay Spalding
As we spend time learning about the original Creator, we will create masterpieces for His glory. From beginners to advanced students, all can join in as we find ways to worship God through art.
-
Adulting 201 with Major Storm McClure
Last year, in Adulting 101, we discussed things like managing money, banking, relationships, and many other topics on how to navigate the world of adulting. In a continuation of these discussions, in Adulting 201, we will explore the world of money management further, how to pay for college without taking on tons of debt, and how to engage in adult relationships with appropriate boundaries and expectations. We will go deeper into the topics that were of the most interest from last year, as well as discuss a few new topics. Come ready to participate, learn, and have fun!
-
Gospel Choir with Lt. Denzell McClain
Do you love praising God with song? Do you sing in the shower and have always wanted to be a part of a choir? Do you love Kirk Franklin, Maverick City, Ricky Dillard, and other gospel artists? Well, this elective was created for you! Come join the TYI “All In” gospel choir!
-
Sports Ministries with Captain Cavon Phillips and Captain Nic Arroqui
The sport for the elective class will be Pickleball. A fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong that is played both indoors or outdoors. In this elective, delegates will learn about the origins, rules, mobility, equipment, the field of play, and various techniques to master the sport. Pickleball is a fun, social, and friendly sport to play and is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.
-
TYI News with Lt. Ali Hamilton
Do you have a passion for journalism and sharing the good news? The TYI News Elective is the class for you! In this class we will take notes during the sessions, interview delegates on their TYI experiences, find inspiring scripture, and compile it all into a daily newsletter that gets sent out to all participants.
-
Drama with Captain Jenifer Phillips
A different kind of worship: Drama. Come and join us to learn more about how to bring a worship experience that is diverse and inclusive, and brings scripture to life in a different way.
-
God in Nature with Sgt. Jeff Clarke
There’s nothing better than a bit of fresh air! In this elective, you will have the opportunity to explore CWJ’s ropes course, hiking trails, and more as you experience God’s creations first-hand in the great outdoors.
-
Spoken Word with Lt. JP Pierre
Spoken word poetry is poetry that is written on a page but performed for an audience. Because it is performed, this poetry tends to demonstrate a heavy use of rhythm, improvisation, free association, rhymes, rich poetic phrases, word play and slang. It is more aggressive and “in your face” than more traditional forms of poetry.
